What Is Citizen Advocacy?

Citizen Advocacy matches people with intellectual disability with volunteer advocates, creating unique, often long-term relationships.

Recruited, trained, matched and supported on an ongoing basis by Citizen Advocacy, each volunteer advocate independently represents the interests of the person with disability.

Testimonials

Our Volunteer Advocates

“I had spare time available and wanted to do something to make a difference. Now I’m in it, my whole outlook has changed. It has been good for my family too. To get to know the person I support and for that person to become part of our family.”

“Unique opportunity to make a difference that you don’t necessarily get in any other way.”

“A lot of people out there may not have family and need someone to help them. If I didn’t have Sarah, I think I would go to  pieces.”

“My volunteer is so caring and supportive and has made a very big difference to my life.”
